Paper weight and paper conversion — grams per square meter (gsm), to points (pt) and pounds (lb).
Text stock versus cover stock: the coated stock chart below is for text stock, not cover stock. Business cards, for example, are most often printed on 80 lb cover stock — printed on 80 lb text stock instead, they'd come out far thinner. 80 lb text and 80 lb cover are different thicknesses, even though the number looks the same.
